Patrick C. Sweeney was born in Ahascragh, Co. Galway
on 27th. December 1908. He was a gifted athlete and sportsman. He
qualified as a solicitor in 1932 and began his career in Roscommon.
In 1934 he helped to revive hunting in the county and was secretary
of the club and he was instrumental in reviving Roscommon Races in
1948. He was Hon. Secretary of the Race Committee for 14 years.
* Paddy Sweeney's book is a "horses-eye" view of hunting and riding based on the exploits of the "Roscommon Harriers". It is intended mainly for children.
