John McGahern has always been claimed as both a
Roscommon and a Leitrim writer. He was raised in Co. Leitrim, but
spent a good part of his youth in Co. Roscommon, after his mother
died. He is an internationally known writer and deserves a website
all to himself. This simple page is to honour his memory. His books
have been translated into many languages, this is just a small
sample of his work.
John McGahern swaps autographs with Jimmy Murray in King House, Boyle. So happy was he to get the great man's signature, he even mentions the meeting in his "Memoir". (Photo: © Copyright: Tony Conboy. Do not use without permission)
