Roscommon Fleadh Cheoil.

Roscommon County Fleadh Cheoil is an annual Irish music competition run by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann as part of the process of finding participants for the national Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Comhaltas is a non-profit cultural organisation, founded in Mullingar in 1951 and its role is to encourage and support Irish traditional music. A Co. Roscommon County Board of Comhaltas was set up in 1954 and the first county event was staged in 1958.

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann was held in Roscommon in 1960 and 1966, on both occasions in Boyle. Roscommon Fleadh Cheoil is held every Easter Weekend and is the first event of the Comhaltas calendar in Ireland.

County Roscommon is particularly noted for its flute playing, along with Leitrim & Sligo. The county has had plenty of success at national level and in the now discontinued "Ceoltraí" competition, Roscommon won an unprecedented 3 in a row of National titles.
