Tony Fallon - A man of many talents.


Tony Fallon, originally from Athlone and Rahara in South Roscommon, attended the Christian Brothers School in Roscommon and worked for a while in the town, before moving to the United States in 1965. In December 1978 he presented the first Irish radio show in the US, on Hofstra University Radio - 88.7 FM, in Long Island, New York. He was responsible for the first ever live broadcast of a Gaelic Football match in New York, when Roscommon played Kerry in the All Ireland Final of 1980. He was Roscommon "Man-of-the-Year" in America in 1984.

The radio show proved so successful it lasted for 30 years. Although Tony retired from presenting it after 15 years, he was invited back recently to help celebrate the 30th. Anniversary.

In addition to his successful radio show, Tony is also a much sought after DJ and a regular guest on other radio shows, appearing frequently on St. Patricks Day broadcasts in the New York area. He even had his own show on "Radio West" the popular pirate radio station based in Mullingar, prior to the official launch of Local Radio in Ireland.

Tony Fallon is a poet of some renown, featuring in the International Poetry Hall of Fame, a businessman, running "Tony's Tools" and a writer, amongst his many other pursuits.

He has two brothers and a sister, all living in Ireland.
