We began to notice the trend in early 2006. Before this Auctioneers
were satisfied with simple printed paper information sheets, but now
the battle for buyers had intensified and a more suitable means of
persuasion was required! This was the age of the full-colour, card
covered, professionally designed and professionally printed house
brochure. The majority of brochures are approx A4 size and contain from three to six pages (some have more). They are professionally designed and are a credit to their designers (many of whom are not named). They contain a wealth of information including plans of the houses, site maps, local area maps, national location maps, local information and occasionally information contained on computer disc. With the end of the construction boom in 2008, will we see the end of these interesting items of ephemera? Some commentators are saying that some of these estates may have to be levelled, as no one will buy the houses? If this happens, will these brochures be the only evidence of their existence? |

Our collection consists of three separate databases. One for 2006 and before, one for 2007 and one for post 2007. Developments may not have started during these years, but this was the year when we collected the brochure. Follow the links below to discover "The Art of the Housing Brochure".
Images are not to scale. We are certain that our collection is incomplete for this type of material. If you have any of these brochures and would like to donate them please contact us. |
