The Illustrated Tea Bag.

These bags were filled with loose tealeaves by the vendor. They date from the middle of the 20th Century but were used right up to the 1970's and possibly 1980's, before succumbing to the popularity of teabags! This is our collection, we welcome additions.

Peter McLoughlin, Main Street, Castlerea. White (front) and yellow (back). These bags are 7 ounce, (where did the gramme go?), the red bag less.

Heran's, Chapel Street, Boyle & J. J. Doorly, The Corner House, Roscommon. Both these bags are less than 7 ounce.
