Tom Foxe.

Tom Foxe was born in Clooncraff, Kilteevan in 1937. He received his early education at Roxboro National School and the Christian Brothers School in Roscommon. He studied Agricultural Science in Galway and Dublin and obtained a B.Agr.Sc. degree. After graduation he taught for a short time at Elphin Vocational School, followed by two years at Letterkenny Vocational School. He then spent three and a half years as an Agricultural Advisor to Leitrim County Committee of Agriculture. In 1971 he returned to Roscommon as Adviser to the Roscommon County Committee of Agriculture. He retired in 1987 to concentrate on his pub business.

Tom was a founder member of the Hospital Action Committee (H.A.C.) in 1976 and ran successfully for election to Dáil Éireann in 1989. He was elected to Roscommon County Council (with his colleague Eithne Quinn) in 1991 and again in 1999, but was unsuccessful in the National Election of June 1997. Tom Foxe died on 8th February 2000.

The sticker and poster (below) are rare reminders of the political life of this man.
