Terry Leyden.


Terry Leyden has been a member of Roscommon County Council, Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann since 1974. He was an elected representative of Roscommon County Council from 1974 to 1991 and was re-elected in 1999. He was a member of Dail Eireann from 1977 to 1981 for Roscommon/South Leitrim and from 1981 to 1992 for Roscommon/East Galway. He served in Seanad Eireann,1992 - 1993, 2002 - 2007, and 2007 (ongoing).

 

He was Minister for State P&T and Transport in 1982, Minister for State Dept. of Health 1987 to 1989 and Minister for Trade & Marketing 1989 to 1992. A member of the Council of Europe 1992, he has held numerous other EU, State and local posts over nearly 35 years of public service. He comes from The Walk, Roscommon Town and now lives in Castlecoote. His daughter Orla Leyden is a member of Roscommon County Council.
