Soccer or Association Football was once called the "Garrison Game". This was because it was usually associated with the Garrison Towns, in Roscommon there were military garrisons in Ballaghaderreen, Boyle, Castlerea, Roscommon and Athlone. Soccer is now accepted as a national pastime just the same as Rugby or Gaelic Games. This is our small collection of material relating to soccer in Co. Roscommon. We would love to have more photographs, documents and ephemera for the sport in the county. If you have such material that you no longer require and would like to give it a good home .. please contact us
