Denis
Naughten was born on 23 June 1973 in Drum, Co.
Roscommon, son of
Liam Naughten, a Fine Gael Dáil Deputy
from 1982 to 1989 and a member of Seanad Éireann 1981 -
1982 and 1989 - 1996. He received his early education in
Ardkeenan
National School and St. Aloysius College, Athlone,
before entering University College Dublin, where he was
conferred with a BSc. degree. He is a research scientist
by profession.
Polling Card for General Election in 1997 (left). He served
as a member of Roscommon County Council and the Western
Health Board from 1997 to 2003, when the dual mandate
was abolished. He was re-elected to the 29th. Dáil on 17 May 2002 and was spokesperson on Transport from 2002 to 2004 and Front Bench Spokesperson on Agriculture & Food from 2004 to 2007. In addition, he served as a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committees on Education & Science, Tourism, Sport & Recreation and Enterprise & Small Business during these terms.

Denis Naughten was elected to the 30th. Dáil Éireann on 24 May 2007 in the new Constituency of Roscommon/South Leitrim. He is Fine Gael Front-Bench Spokesperson on Immigration and Integration.
