Moore News has been produced by Moore Community Council since
December 1974. The first edition was on A3 glossy paper and printed
by Standard Printed Products in Galway. This was followed by
a newspaper (tabloid format) edition in 1974, printed at
The
Roscommon Champion. The two edition produced in1975 and 1976 are larger
and have no printer named. The single edition in 1977 is back to a smaller
size and printed by Athlone Printing Works. (This edition is
No. 16, but should be No. 6?). The April 1978 issue is the same size but
no printer is given (No. 17, should be No. 7?) and the December 1978 issue is
narrower and was, again, printed by the Athlone Printing Works.
The publication has been produced in book format by Brosna Press of Ferbane, Co. Offaly since the late 1970's or early 1980's. The numbering sequence does not match the later numbering - the 2010 issue is the 36th Edition. If Dec. 1978 was No. 8 then 2010 should be Edition 40, or if counted by years it should be 37? Or there might have been a few years missing in the late 70's or early 80's? Can anyone tell us? We would welcome the missing issues;
