Postcards – Castlerea.


This is our small collection of Castlerea postcards. (Clonalis House has it's own page). Copyright rests with the individual photographer (see notes below). Do not use without their permission. Images are not to scale.

01 The Convent, Castlerea.  The "Milton" Series. Used. (Postdate: 1948). (See also No. 11 below).

02 A set of 5 cards that appears to have been recently reissued.

The first set (left, missing two cards) is from Kingsley of 32 Chatham St., Leicester. The set is KNBT 1501 to KNBT 1505. No date, but the photo on the last card appears to date from the 1960's or early 1970's?

The second set (right) is by DVP of 117 Loughborough Road, Leicester. This set is BT 1501 to BT 1505. No date, but this set was on sale in recent years in Castlerea.

The cards are (1) Convent School. (2) St. Patrick's. (3) The Demesne (misspelled on both cards "Demesme"). (4) & (5) are both titled Main Street, Castlerea.

One of a set of 6 cards produced for Mayo / Roscommon Hospice as part of a Christmas Calendar in 2000.

08 Two generic cards. Apart from the name there is no connection with the town of Castlerea. (Recent).

10 Castlerea. New Catholic Church. Hely's Ltd., Dublin. No date. Unused.
11 Castlerea. The Convent. The Wrench Series No. 9343. Used. (Postdate: 1905). (See also No. 1 above).
